Instantly Use Your Body to Change Your Thinking and Change Your Life

I talked to you earlier about the fact that your posture can help you determine what you are thinking and feeling. That posture can easily be changed which will also change your state changing what you are feeling and thinking.

Now I want to get you thinking about how you can use that information to actually increase your awareness of your thinking.

I’ve talked about this a lot but it’s worth repeating, your thoughts are energy and therefore they are always moving. Nothing stands still and your thoughts are either moving you in the direction you want to go or away from it.

One of the challenges we all face is that we are so use to all of these thought patterns that we don’t even recognize the negative thoughts when they happen.

If you have spent the last 30 years with the thought that you will never be rich, it is so carved into your subconscious that you don’t even realize you are thinking this thought. Even though this thought will help prevent you from ever having an abundance of money.

One way you can recognize these thought patterns is to be aware of how you feel in your body.

So let’s say you are rocking along through your day and something happens that triggers and tension or heaviness in your body. You don’t know what that feeling is but you know you don’t like it.

You may not be totally aware of your thoughts at the moment even though those thoughts are triggering this tension or heaviness in your body.

What can you do about all this?

If you remember is the previous email that talked about this subject, there are specific actions you can take to completely change your state.

So let’s go back to the example above.

You know something is wrong and you don’t know what it is or why it’s feeling this crappy.

Now take a look at your posture.

If you are sitting, are you slumped over in your chair? Your head is probably looking down and your eyes looking towards the floor? Your breathing is probably also shallow and ragged at best.

So let’s make a drastic change in your body position and posture. Sit up straight and look straight ahead or slightly up. Take deep slow breaths and put a smile on your face.

Did you know it’s almost impossible to smile and not feel happy?

So make yourself smile, even if it’s a fake smile at first, it will become genuine soon enough. Now say out loud in a confident and strong voice…

“I feel GREAT right NOW!”

If you don’t start feeling better immediately then stand up and really get forceful with your statement that you feel great right now! Do what ever you have to in order to change your state and how you feel. If you have to jump up and down and yell out, then do it.

You will notice and instant change of state.

Notice now how your body is positioned. You are standing or sitting straight and strong. You are carrying your head high and your breathing is full and deep and regular.

Really notice the difference in how your body is positioned compared to how you were when you were feeling down and miserable.

Now that you’ve changed your state…

Look carefully at the thoughts that were running through your head prior to changing your state. Notice that those thoughts were triggering this negative reaction in your body.

Also notice that these thought patterns are getting in the way of you moving in the direction you desire to take your life.

Don’t judge these thoughts, just look at them and observe the affects they have not only on your mood and attitude, but also how they affect your body.

Is it any wonder that your thoughts can literally make you sick?

If you never thought about it, you will after you practice this technique a few times.

This isn’t the only way to change your patterns or become aware of your thinking it however a great tool to have in your tool box. You can pull it out and use it anytime and any place to change your state.

Once you’ve interrupted your pattern and changed your state, you are now back to the present moment. Once you are present, you can look at your thinking and ask yourself the question “is this thought helping me or hurting me?”

Now you are present!

You’ve used your new tool to interrupt a negative thought pattern and move yourself back to being present. You now have the ability to instantly change your state from negative to positive.

You can change from sad to happy or from tired to energized.

Keep your toolbox close to you so you can reach in and pull this one out anytime you need it. You will be glad you have this tool with you always.

To your success and happiness,
Dale
