One Step to Make This Year the Best Ever

Happy New Year and welcome to 2016!

Now that it’s here, what are you going to do in order to make this the best year ever. I often hear people say that “this is going to be the best year yet” and I wonder what they have planned to insure that will happen.

Then, as the year progresses, I look at these same people and they are still doing the exact same things in the exact same ways. They are still great people but they are frustrated because nothing is different.

Nothing has changed for them inspire of their upbeat and positive attitude at the beginning of the New Year.

I know you’ve probably heard it all and have been inundated with all kinds of marketing messages in the last couple of days. These messages are trying to sell you something to make you a better you in the New Year.

Let me ask you something here

What is the one change you could make that would have the biggest impact on your life this year? If there was one thing you could do that would change everything, would you be willing to do it?

If your answer is yes, then I applaud you for being willing to take on the challenge of doing something different.

If you didn’t really have an answer, then that may be something you want to look at to see where your blocks are.

There’s one thing that we can be certain of…

If we continue to do things the same, nothing will change and we will continue to get the same results!

This isn’t rocket science and yet most continue to follow the same patterns year after year and never make even the slightest adjustments to the way they operate in their day to day lives.

There is another certainty that is much less published but also true…

It’s the little things that make the biggest difference!

You don’t have to change everything, though you may think you’d like to. Often you can make very small changes in the way you do things and look at life. These small adjustments can stimulate massive results in a very short time.

So what am I talking about?

What is this one little thing that we can do different that will make such a massive change in the results we experience?

It’s called Decision!

Yes, you read that right. You see, most of us fear making decisions in our lives. When we are finally forced to make those decisions, we are making them from a place of fear.

So our decisions made from fear are made in the fight or flight modality and rarely work in our best interest.

So we wait!

We wait because we are afraid of making the wrong decision. This waiting creates another fear-based emotion called anxiety!

Anxiety is even more dangerous than plain old fear because it paralyses us and prevents us from taking any kind of action at all.

At least with fear, we will eventually be forced to do something to move past it. But with anxiety, we can hold onto this negative emotion for a life time and never really move past it. This happens because it becomes a story that we live by. But that is for another discussion.

What I’m suggesting is that you make it a practice starting today, to just make a decision whenever you have a choice. Don’t over think it, just decide and go with it.

Your natural instinct will be right and true most of the time. If you decide wrong, then so be it. Look at what you can learn from that wrong decision. You can now take a different action and continue moving forward.

By failing to make a decision, you have failed.

If you make a decision and then fail, you didn’t really fail. You learned something valuable that will equip you to make a better decision in the future.

The greatest leaders of all time have made some really crappy decisions. The important thing is, and what made them the greatest leaders of all time, is that they made a decision.

Right or wrong, nothing happens till a decision is made.

If you make a mistake, then you can be grateful because success will always lie on the other side of mistakes.

If you fail to make a decision, then you are taking zero action and you are putting yourself into a state that will not allow you to progress.

So my New Years challenge is for you to decide today that you will make decisions and move forward.

I promise, this one little baby step has the power to completely transform your life.

To your success and happiness,

Dale
